Lila-Zoé Krauss (*1994, Alice Springs) is a German artist, wo lives and works in Vienna and Hamburg. She studied Fine Arts at the HFBK Hamburg in the class of Jutta Koether, at CalArts Los Angeles, and Sound Studies at UDK Berlin.

In 2024, Kunsthaus Hamburg presented Krauss’s first institutional solo exhibition, featuring the large-scale installation of her multimedia opera [After her Destruction]. The project was subsequently included in the group exhibitions if you follow the river long enough (2024; Projektraum Dietikon, Zurich), Shifting (2025, Julia Stoschek Foundation, Düsseldorf), not yet yours to imagine (2025, DAS WEISSE HAUS, Vienna), as well as In Zukunft Schreiben (2025–2026, ICAT, HFBK Hamburg).

Since 2025 the artist develops a new opera cycle called [The Art of Mind]. The project’s prologue scene Dream VI: [Station 161] premiered as a video installation in the group show Future Continuous at Kunsthaus Hamburg (2025-2026) and is currently on view in the group show Drifting Feast at Kaohsiung Musuem of Fine Arts in Taiwan (2026). End of April Krauss presented a glimpse of the new compositions and writings at the TURNS series at ZKM, after a one-month residency in February 2026. The project will be further developed during a residency at Cité International des Arts in Paris from September 2026 till January 2027.

Since 2020 she has released the vinyl albums [Freedom/Fiction] (2020) and [After her Destruction] (2024) under the pseudonym L Twills and has performed at numerous venues, including Kampnagel (Hamburg), NAVEL (Los Angeles), Pop-Kultur Festival (Berlin), Forum Stadtpark (Graz), Documenta15 (Kassel), HKW (Berlin), Secession, and Volkstheater (Vienna).

Krauss was awarded various grants including the Austrian Startstipendium for Performing Arts in 2023, the Annual Grant for Visual Arts Hamburg in 2025 and the Stiftung Kunstfonds Grant in 2026.

Since 2020 Krauss regularly composes and performs music for spoken theater.
